She made me feel at ease, supported, and genuinely cared for. Amber embodies the qualities of an outstanding nurse.
I would like to recognize Amber from 2 West for her exceptional compassion, leadership, and patient-centered care. Amber was hyper-vigilant in ensuring that I was seen, heard, and supported.
After I had a strong reaction to an injection, she made direct eye contact with me and calmly said, It is okay to feel frustrated. Let me know what you need. In that moment, she validated my emotions and made me feel safe to express myself. Amber was proactive in every aspect of my care. Knowing that I will be having lumbar surgery, she brought me a heating pad for my lower back without me even needing to ask.
Every time I had questions about my medication, she already had it prepared and was ready to administer it. Her organization and attentiveness gave me great confidence in the care I received. Because of my personal experiences, I tend to downplay my pain and hesitate to ask for medication out of concern for how I might be perceived. When this came up, Amber immediately reassured me not to wait until the pain became unbearable and encouraged me to advocate for myself.
Her validation helped me feel respected and understood. Amber also demonstrated strong leadership and professionalism. When another nurse assisted by taking my vitals and made a comment about doing someone else's job, Amber responded with gratitude and positivity, thanking her for the support. Her respectful demeanor created a calm and supportive environment for both patients and staff.
Throughout my stay, Amber consistently followed up on orders, explained what was coming next, and maintained a reassuring and positive presence. She made me feel at ease, supported, and genuinely cared for. Amber embodies the qualities of an outstanding nurse. Her compassion, advocacy, leadership, and professionalism made a meaningful difference in my experience.
