Amber was not on shift that day but made it a point to call the patient and speak with her that day. She also had flowers delivered to her room to celebrate her first baby's heavenly birthday.
Recently, Amber cared for a patient who was experiencing some issues and was admitted for monitoring. The patient had been pregnant two times but had lost those babies. The patient was hospitalized for two weeks. She was on bed rest and unable to do too much. Amber spent quality time with the patient, letting her voice her concerns about her pregnancy and also the feelings she experienced with her losses.
Amber had also cared for her when she lost her first baby at 34 weeks gestation. The patient pulled up photos of herself and the baby she lost, but in the picture, there was someone else - her nurse Amber. She told Amber how much the love and compassion she showed her meant to her and her family.
While she was hospitalized, the second anniversary of the loss of her first baby occurred. Amber was not on shift that day but made it a point to call the patient and speak with her that day. She also had flowers delivered to her room to celebrate her first baby's heavenly birthday.
This patient was so thankful for all the love, support, and understanding that Amber showed her.
