I had a nice experience this past weekend when one of my friends had her first baby here at Wesley. The delivery went okay and mom and baby were doing fine. I went to visit my friend and she was telling me that breastfeeding was a bit of a challenge. I contacted Amber Maurer, a lactation nurse who I have come to know through PPC and I thought she would be perfect to help my friend and I asked her to stop by and see her. Unfortunately, Amber wasn't working but said she would stop by and see my friend. Later, I got a message from my friend's husband who said, "Your friend from lactation came by just a few minutes ago and was so helpful. She made my wife feel so much better and at ease. Thank you!" I knew that Amber would help. She has the sweetest temperament and genuinely loves her job and the patients she helps. Amber deserves a DAISY Award because she is really making a difference with all the mom's she interacts with.
