December 2023 Honoree
Amber Mjolnir, BSN, RN
This student was driving on their way to clinical and noticed an elderly woman lying on the sidewalk. They stopped their car and went out to assess the situation. The woman was alert, and her wrist was visibly deformed. The student called an ambulance and waited with the woman until the ambulance took her to the hospital. The student called me to tell me what was going on and why they may be a little late for that day’s scheduled lab. The student was talking with the woman and reassuring her while the ambulance was on its way.
This student has also gone out of her way to support other students, providing rides, emotional support, and even food as needed. The student has also provided education related to her work in the radiology area, to assure other students know how to best support patients as they undergo various procedures. She is well respected as a person and has been a great advocate for her patients in the clinical setting.
