When I was 44 years old, I was diagnosed with colon cancer.  I didn't know where to start with my search for care.  I knew I needed surgery and wanted to have a connection with trust in my surgeon and care team.

I was referred by a family member to City of Hope in January of 2022.  I live 3 hours away in Michigan, but when I met with Dr. H and his team, I instantly knew this is where I needed to be for care.  I was set up for my surgery and was informed that it was going to be at least a 3-day stay, but with COVID regulations, I would have to be by myself, and no visitors allowed.  My world was shaken, as I knew that support from my husband was a MUST after my surgery.

So, after finding the perfect fit, I would need to start my search again.  But Amber Morris knew and understood our dilemma.  She went above and beyond to present our circumstances to the administration board. As I was sitting in a room waiting for an appointment in complete heartache and despair, I got a call from Amber that my husband's stay was approved! It meant the world to me that Amber went above and beyond for us!

This complete stranger made such a HUGE impact on our lives.  We will be forever grateful to Amber Morris.  Her kindness will never be forgotten.  I tell her she is our angel on Earth.

Thank you, Amber, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
