March 2026 Honoree
Amber N Gassmann, BSN, RN
Amber said only a few words that made all the difference. I have had so many heart procedures. Two mitral valve replacements and a tricuspid valve replacement. I was brave and strong because I had to be. One year ago, four more surgeries.
Now, presently doing a repeat of the four surgeries. But 2 days before Amber was my nurse, I crumbled in my daughter’s arms – and my granddaughter’s shoulder. “I am tired of being brave, I am tired of being strong. I cannot do this anymore.” For the next 2 days, I was exhausted and defeated. Amber helped me to the restroom, and I just stopped. I had a tear. Amber said, “You are strong. I can see it.” Made all the difference. She lifted me. Now I am calm. I am brave, and I am strong.

Thank you, Amber N, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
