Amber was taking care of a stroke patient and showed compassion and caring. She was the patient's biggest advocate! The patient needed to be transferred to a stroke center in another state, but an ambulance would not arrive for four hours for the transport. Amber knew that the patient was critical and needed transferring sooner, so she went to the physician and advocated that if the chosen center could not fly the patient, could other stroke facilities be considered so the transfer could happen sooner. The physician agreed and found a Maryland hospital to accept the patient. He was flown and arrived within the half-hour. Amber was calm, caring and followed her intuition to help her patient receive the care he needed in the quickest amount of time.
