I have been living with a difficult diagnosis for several years, and it has not been an easy road - physically, mentally, or emotionally. One of the most difficult challenges I've faced is feeling like I am seen as a diagnosis, a chart, or a set of symptoms. But from the first time I met Amber, everything felt different. I see Amber for my medication therapy, and at my very first appointment with her, she completely changed how I feel about my care. She spoke to me like I was a real person -not just some patient, not just a diagnosis. She made me feel valued, respected, and genuinely cared for. That may sound simple, but when you've spent years in and out of appointments and treatments, that level of compassion means the world. Amber takes the time to explain things clearly and professionally, making sure I understand my medications and treatments. She answers my questions with patience, never making me feel rushed, and she always makes sure I am comfortable and informed. Beyond that, she goes above and beyond by asking how I am really doing-not just medically, but emotionally and personally. She asks about my life, how work is going, how I've been coping, and always checks to make sure I'm doing okay, not just on the outside but on the inside. Her kindness, professionalism, and empathy have made a tremendous impact on my life. She has made me feel human again - seen, heard, and cared for. She never makes me feel like just another appointment on the schedule. She makes me feel like a person who matters. Amber is the perfect example of what nursing is meant to be. She is compassionate, professional, dedicated, and advocates for her patients in every way. She is truly an asset to Carle Health and to the nursing profession. Because of her, I feel hopeful, understood, and supported in my journey.
