June 2026 Honoree
Amber R Vogus, RN
This person understood me right when she came into my room! I told Amber the importance of it to me to eat before I took my medicine, but I was wanting/asking for a muscle relaxer for my PT; they took it off my chart, so she had to approve it. Finally, breakfast came; I ate it fast, as transport was waiting for me to go to PT. She came all the way to the gym! I wasn't expecting that. Though she would have waited until I got back to the room to give me my medicine. She didn't just do that once but 3 times, three! That's a lot of steps and a lot of steps away from her other pts. Once I finished my therapy, my dad and I went back to the room. I had to go to the bathroom, opened the door, and the smell of bleach hit my face. I have asthma, so I took my inhaler. Amber came right away; she checked me out, and my dad and Amber didn't waste any time finding me a bathroom. My dad mentioned the lobby. She took me there with no second-guessing what other staff members thought about seeing a patient wheeling into the lobby bathroom.
Thank you, Amber R, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
