Amber Riggs was nominated by her Clinical Head Nurse, who described her as "an exceptional nurse who is always going above and beyond for all her patients."
Earlier this year, Riggs demonstrated a high level of compassionate care by helping two very ill patients on her unit. Both patients were young mothers in the end stages of terminal diagnoses, and both would be leaving behind young children. Riggs spent the day reaching out to several resources to obtain hand molds of the two mothers as a memory for their children as well as teddy bears with a recording of the patients' heartbeats. "Amber exudes a level of compassion that is noted not only by her patients but also by her coworkers. She exemplifies what it means to be a nurse here at Hershey Medical Center."
