Recently an open heart surgery patient was bleeding and not doing well. Amber not only swiftly corrected a clinical situation with the appropriate responses but she was communicating with the patient by being reassuring and compassionate about the patient's need for pain treatment while maintaining safe blood pressure and giving blood and products. Amber confidently reassured the patient that she would get them through the situation and kept him calm while doing so. Amber is also a fierce advocate for her staff when she is the charge RN. She communicates with staff, and is flexible with bed management while never putting RNs in a situation where they can't deliver safe care.
