The Saint Al's COVID policy limited visitation but after working with the patient care services, allowances were approved for my mother and siblings to gather around Dad to say goodbye.
I am writing this letter on behalf of my family to offer our heartfelt thanks to the nurses who provided such tender care and compassion during the passing of our husband and father. Despite aggressive treatment (for non-COVID PNA), he declined rapidly. With the compassionate guidance of the hospitalist, the family made the decision to transition Dad to "comfort care". Mom was not able to talk with Dad before he was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Because of COVID, many of us 7 children had not seen him in over 10 months. The Saint Al's COVID policy limited visitation but after working with the patient care services, allowances were approved for my mother and siblings to gather around Dad to say goodbye. He passed away peacefully. Words are inadequate to express how grateful we are for these special people. We wish to deeply thank them and hope that they will be recognized by Saint Al's for truly exemplifying Saint Al's mission to "serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence".
