I have recently been in the care of a most helpful and encouraging nurse, Amber, with whom I felt a real connection. She had a way of putting me at ease and showed genuine concern in speaking to my doctor and my family. When I came to inpatient rehab, I had a catheter and experienced a great deal of pain and confusion as I was recovering. Amber gave me individual attention, so I felt I was her only patient. She took time and explained what was happening and reassured me that my concerns and those of my family were valid. When she said she would talk to the doctor and share her own concerns I knew I could trust her. Her personal approach and compassion for me and my family are some of the reasons I nominated her for this award. Amber is #1 in my book.
