March 2014 Honoree
amber ward, RN, CCRN
Amber Ward has been amazing. Despite the hectic day, Amber kept CVICU running smoothly and efficiently. Although she was very busy, every interaction with my family was genuine and never rushed. She took the time to be authentically present, explain everything in detail, hold my grandmother's hand, and meet all of my family's needs, not just my grandmother's. My grandmother developed complications and Amber has continued to take the time to call me for every little change, new treatment, or just to update me on how she is doing. Amber recognizes how this impacts families going through this and she has cared for me as a person, not just a co-worker. I am able to work today and be productive because I know she is in great hands. It is not easy to let go and trust others to take care of your loved ones. It is a humbling experience, but I could not be more grateful and proud of our organization and the people I work with.
I have always known that the care we give is different, but being on the receiving end sheds a new light on what the art of caring is and how it can make a difference for patients and families. Thank you for your leadership that has set the example for so many of us to strive to achieve.

Thank you, Amber, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
