Her combination of empathy, competence, and reliability models the best of nursing practice.
Amber Watson is a proactive, compassionate caregiver whose quick thinking, technical skill, and steadfast advocacy have had a profound impact on patients, families, and colleagues. Team members repeatedly describe her as the first to respond in emergencies and the one who quietly steps in to fix problems, whether resolving a radiology system error for a coworker or troubleshooting a complex medication authorization for a jailed patient until it was resolved.
Amber’s calm courage has saved lives. In one clinic emergency, she immediately initiated one-person CPR on a toddler who was choking, then helped suction and stabilize the child until EMS arrival, actions that colleagues credit with likely saving the child’s life. On another occasion, she recognized a pregnant patient about to lose consciousness and quickly intervened to catch and protect her. These moments reflect clinical presence, fast assessment, and decisive action under pressure. Her commitment extends beyond critical events.
Amber consistently goes the extra mile for patients and families, providing comfort, following through on difficult care coordination, and advocating persistently for mental-health and medication needs. A patient family member noted that Amber helps people even when she’s off duty and always puts others before herself. Colleagues and clinical partners also praise Amber’s teamwork and eagerness to learn: she offers help without being asked, supports coworkers who are struggling, and pursues additional medical knowledge to improve care. Her combination of empathy, competence, and reliability models the best of nursing practice. For life-saving interventions, unwavering patient advocacy, technical aptitude, and the servant-hearted teamwork she brings to every shift, Amber Watson is a deserving DAISY Honoree.
