I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the nurses on the Same Day Unit. From the moment I entered the unit, the nurses were very warm and welcoming. I ran into some trouble as my doctor felt that my wedding band would have to be removed prior to surgery. This ring had not been off the finger in over 10 years. The doctor tried but could not remove the ring. The nurses in the Same Day Unit saw that this was upsetting to me. They each tried to remove the ring, even though this was holding up the OR. They truly cared and tried ice, string, and different ring cutters. They tried everything they could but to no avail. Even though they could not save my ring, the compassion they showed was not in their job description, they truly cared.
