I am a final year student nurse, Amelia was my mentor for a six-week placement. In those six weeks, I have seen nothing but outstanding care, compassion, leadership, and dedication to her role on J44. I cannot simply just outline one occasion where Amelia has shown outstanding care and compassion therefore I will explain the work she does on a daily basis without realisation. The care on J44 is simply indescribable, being a student nurse I have been in numerous areas of practice and J44 has been the one I will take forward for their exemplary care. I cannot help but put this down to the incredible effort of Amelia. She dedicates her time to supporting the staff, ensuring staff is a team. Despite the grade of staff she treats everyone as equals which fosters a trusting community on J44. With the support she provides for staff and the teamwork she encourages, great relationships are fostered with service users.

Working in numerous areas of practice as a student nurse, you identify hard-working individuals easily. Amelia works extra hours on the ward to try and combat the dire staffing in practice whilst working her managerial role alongside. She is never afraid to offer a helping hand to staff, always getting involved and no job is ever above her pay grade. It is inspirational to see an experienced nurse in a management position so involved in patient care. She continues to show compassion in all aspects of her role.

Her ability to support and encourage me has fostered the development of my confidence and competence to become a registered nurse. I cannot write my gratitude and thankfulness for the inspiration Amelia has given. The short time with Amelia has provided me with the courage to continue my nursing degree despite numerous challenges faced personally and professionally. I hope this short extract of my experience with Amelia and the team on J44 has simply highlighted the outstanding sister Amelia is and how deserving she is of a daisy award.
