Her first words were "don't worry, we'll take good care of you." In that instant, I felt a sudden rush of relief and calmness.
Once I was admitted to L&D at 26 weeks pregnant you can imagine all the emotions I was going through at that time. Not sure if I had to deliver my twins early or if treatments could get all 3 of us stable enough to keep the babies in for later delivery. Me already having a history of chronic hypertension this situation only worsened my hypertension.
Ammie (Amelia) was the nurse that admitted me and as soon as she saw me her first words were "don't worry, we'll take good care of you." In that instant, I felt a sudden rush of relief and calmness. She walked me through everything they were doing and what medications they would be giving me and possible side effects I may experience. With my condition upon admission doctors expected that I had to deliver within the first 2 days I was there. However here I am at 28 weeks and thriving! Ammie had a way of helping me keep calm while my blood pressures were taken and recommended the best positions for me to be in for the best results. She also had much patience while putting on the baby heart monitors and checking on me frequently giving me updates on how the babies were doing. Granted there were other wonderful nurses during my stay so far, but whenever I saw Ammie's face peek around the curtain first thing in the morning I knew it was going to be an amazing day and I was in the best caring hands Dignity Health could provide.
I defied the odds of not having to deliver within the first few days of admission and doctors are confident I could make it to 32 weeks! I'm truly thankful to Ammie for all her compassion, patience, and resilience. She deserves recognition for my amazing progress and the well-being of my twins.
