My wife entered the Neuro ICU following a procedure to remove a brain tumor. Amy was my wife's RN upon entering the ICU and exiting the following day. The care that Amy provided to my wife during her stay was compassionate and personalized. She conducted herself as trained, however, there was a human element that I greatly appreciated. Not only did she pay close attention to my wife's needs as her patient, she continuously interacted with me, answered my questions and looked after my well-being.
As I sat in the hospital room with my wife, I came across this pamphlet. The treatment of my wife by Amy during her stay in the ICU seems to exemplify why the DAISY Award was created. Care and Compassion provided to a patient and loved ones in her care.
