She took time to sit down with a patient who was undergoing chemotherapy and having a hard time deciding whether to continue treatment. She was a listening ear for this patient through a very difficult time. This nurse takes each opportunity with every patient and family to get to know them and address their concerns. She promptly reaches out to other members of the interdisciplinary team, so all patient and family questions are properly addressed. She shows up to work each day with a smile on her face. I've seen firsthand how she can turn around a patient's day with her positive attitude. She is always there to help other nurses when they need help. As the intern following her, she has shown me what kind of nurse I should strive to be. She provides excellent care by taking the time to get to know each of her patients by always being a listening ear. I have witnessed how she makes her patient's day a little brighter each shift she works.
