Amy Britton, BSN

Amy is an RN on 6 West who was assigned to our mom. Although older, my mom was cared for with the best skill, with palpable compassion layered on. She treats my mom with respect and clearly understands that she values her dignity. She really feels what a family is going through and demonstrates that fine line of ability to be a master of her craft, but still remembers that the patient and family are going through a lot. She took time to explain anything we asked and was always on top of my mom's needs. It's a job that is stressful, and compassion could easily be the first thing that slips. NOT Amy. Without knowing we were listening, she took a post-procedure call from PACU and demonstrated TRUE concern by inquiring, "How's my girl?" You will never know how valuable that was. She made us feel there is still justice and good in care delivery. She felt the same value for my mom as we did—and my mom is 92. She knew the value of her life. Thank you so much, Amy! I will never forget you.
