It is my great pleasure to nominate Nurse Amy Broadway in Dr. MR's office for the DAISY Award. My husband and I have been patients of Dr. R from the time he arrived at CIM as a new doctor in the area. Naturally, he has had numerous nurses through the years- all of whom have been very nice and helpful; but Amy is, without a doubt, the very best! Amy is professional yet warm and pleasant to every patient who comes into the office. I have seen her work with those who are less than happy or feeling bad when in the office, and she always remains calm and moves to her "in charge of the situation" mode but still makes all patients feel they are the most important patient in the office at that moment. My husband and I recently moved, and I was very distraught about leaving our home of 32 years and further that I was retiring from my insurance agency, where I loved my clients and looked forward to being in the office daily. Needless to say, I talked myself into a very depressed state, wanting to do nothing and hating my new surroundings. Finally, I called Dr. "R's" office and unloaded on Amy, telling her how sorry I was to bother her but that I had no one to talk to about this and felt totally worthless, wanting to do nothing nor get out of the house. She was so very sympathetic and listened to me for quite a while as I talked and cried. She assured me this was a normal reaction to a "major life change." She further said she would talk to the doctor and see if he felt I might need some help in getting through this phase and calm me down for a while. In no time at all, she was calling me back in an attempt to assure me that Dr. "R" was calling in a prescription and that I would find a little help at this time. A few days later, she called me again to see how I was feeling and just, in general, being a friend when I needed one. This is just a small example of how she has helped me- I have friends who are also patients in this office, and they have also commented about her professionalism and her caring attitude/personality. For this reason, it is indeed my pleasure to nominate Amy, and I look forward to her being presented with the DAISY Award. She is a true asset to your medical office. Even though we now have to drive over an hour for our appointments, we have no intention of changing from Dr. "R" and Amy Broadway.
