Amy has been with St. David's Round Rock Medical Center for over six years. When speaking to Amy's patients, you will hear them describe their Nurse as "Fantastic, Wonderful, Extraordinary, and Awesome". Amy has an initiate ability to connect with patients. Amy's compassion can be witnessed in the way she handles patients acting out or refusing care. Amy understands that this behavior is caused by fear and the loss of control, and not by ignorance or malice. She will find the common ground that both she and the patient can agree upon and help the patient to make a sound decision. Amy helps empower her patients by empathizing with their feelings and with a soft and loving tone gives them the choices and consequences available and allows them to make their healthcare decisions. Her patients always feel that she is "on their side". For this, and other acts of compassion with patients, we are proud to honor Amy with the DAISY Award.
