I am regularly admitted to the hospital to treat flare-ups of my chronic medical conditions. Despite my experience with a significant number of nurses over the years, Amy quickly became one of my favorite nurses to date. She was my nurse on the last two days of my most recent admission at Bedford Memorial Hospital.

She genuinely listened to what I had to say and greatly valued my input. It was not uncommon for her to pull up a chair next to the bed to allow her to be on my level. Amy was organized in her approach to providing care, allowing her to provide on-time care in a non-rushed manner. During each encounter, it felt like I was her main priority, though I am sure her other patients felt similarly about themselves. She always ensured that she was doing everything possible to maximize my comfort. Realizing that I am very well-educated in my conditions and with my care, she was eager to learn from my experiences and my knowledge base to not only help me but also to assist her future patients. Additionally, I was able to observe Amy working with a nursing student; she was a patient and skilled teacher as she not only instructed the student on what to do but also asked questions to see if the student knew why things worked the way they do.

Lastly, Amy exhibited an extremely high degree of compassion and empathy with me following a challenging physician interaction. I felt heard and safe while sharing my concerns with her. Thank you to Amy for her exceptional nursing care, warm and sincere personality, and for helping to educate the next generation of nurses so competently.
