Upon visiting a patient on 3-East, I noticed that there had been a celebration with decorations and catering, so I asked the mother of the 18-year-old patient what the occasion was. She told me that her son's high school graduation was supposed to be that night, but he had to miss it to be admitted, so the staff celebrated him by bringing in special food, and decorations, and doing a fun mock graduation ceremony. She said it meant so much to them, and they were overwhelmed by everyone's kindness.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that his nurse Amy Dang was the one who initiated the celebration. The administration stepped in and assisted with making it an absolutely wonderful and unforgettable event for the patient and his family.

This is one of many times I have witnessed Amy go above and beyond for her patients. Her compassion and care go far beyond the patient's medical needs. She continually thinks outside the box and creates ways to make her patient's experiences the best possible. As a nurse, her clinical skills are impeccable, she is an outstanding role model and preceptor, and she excels at connecting with her patients and families. Due to her many acts of human kindness, I am nominating Amy for this award.
