February 2025 Honoree
Amy Daughhetee 2, APRN
Amy is an amazing asset to the CV surgery team. She is always there to help us and answer all of our questions. Recently, we had a patient with an extended stay in our ICU. The patient ended up becoming very confused during their stay. This patient didn’t connect with anyone the way they connected with Amy. They were always glad to see her when she would come check on them in their room. The patient finally became healthy enough to leave the ICU but they were reluctant to transfer to the other facility. The only condition they agreed to in order to move to the new facility was for Amy to come and check on them. Amy set a schedule for when she would come to visit the patient every day she was able (the new facility is over an hour and a half away from St. Bernards). This made the patient less anxious about transferring. The compassion, love, and encouragement Amy gives to all the patients before and after heart surgery has made the CVICU a better place not only for the patients but for the staff as well. This story is just one example of Amy's positive impact on our patients. We are so lucky to have her.
