I have the pleasure of working with Amy in the Outpatient Infusion Therapy Center in La Crosse. Amy is consistently going above and beyond for our patients and exemplifying Mayo Clinic's values, namely compassion. Today, I witnessed one such encounter. A patient who comes to us regularly for infusions was in a great deal of pain when he arrived. He couldn't transfer as usual due to the pain. Amy asked the patient a variety of questions to assess the situation. It turns out he needed an injection that he couldn't coordinate an appointment for. Amy reached out to several providers to see what we could do for the patient. One provider responded that he could get the patient in if he was able to come right then. Amy quickly informed the patient of the option to be seen right then, and he was extremely grateful and willing to go get the injection. She transferred him to another department to receive treatment. His infusion in our department was delayed but Amy rearranged things so that the patient could still receive his infusion when he returned to our department. The patient was extremely grateful for the extra care and time that Amy took to help him. This isn't out of the norm for Amy. She is always willing to go above and beyond so that our patients get the best care possible.
