I have worked with Amy for almost 2 decades and she has consistently been an exceptional nurse throughout that time. In her current position, as an overnight charge nurse, she comes into the ED and immediately starts brainstorming and coordinating with the ED team and floors to clear the waiting room. She is always willing to go above and beyond to take care of patients and do the right thing for them, even if it means she might "get in trouble" for putting them first. If it's the right thing for patient care and ED flow, she is leading the charge.

She is also compassionate towards patients, even the "frequent flyers." She's the one talking the patient off the ledge in the parking garage, running out there for a cardiac arrest, or calming the agitated patient or family in the waiting room. She never hides behind the charge desk, but is in the thick of things, solving problems, caring and advocating for patients, and being part of the solution. Her staff respects her and rallies around her because they know she would bend over backward to help them. She is always a resource for newer nurses and a mentor for those just taking on the charge role. She can put an IV in a rock. The list goes on and on. She has given of herself for years at St. Peter's, even to the point of sustaining physical harm on the job. Yet she still shows up and inspires us all day after day. Every department should be lucky enough to have an Amy Froehlich.
