August 2023 Honoree
Amy Garrett, BSN, RN
I entered the cardio-pulmonary rehab facility as a maintenance patient. Amy Garrett approached me with concern, asking, "May I take your blood pressure? You look a little pale" My blood pressure reading alarmed her enough that she asked if she might take me in a wheelchair to the ER. At first, I resisted, but Amy persisted in a kind, gentle and professional way, convincing me that I needed to be examined in the ER. She was right! From the ER, I was transferred to another facility where I received a pacemaker the next morning. Thank you, Amy! Your observation skills and convincing communication may have saved my life.
Thank you, Amy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
