She is extremely sweet to patients and is a good listener to them. Amy truly cares and I want to make sure that even the behind-the-scenes work does not go unnoticed.
It has been an absolute honor and pleasure to work with Amy for over 10 years. In her current role as a nurse coordinator, Amy has learned a different form of nursing compared to bedside nursing. A lot of what is done as a nurse coordinator is behind the scenes. I want to make sure she knows, what she does matters at every level. Especially her efforts, as she goes above and beyond with each patient. One of the things I have learned, while working as a nurse coordinator at the cancer center, is that we are here to give patients hope. Patients trust that we are doing everything we can to expedite their treatment, they trust we will get them there.

Our patients come to us with the hope that the new patient appointment gets expedited to be seen sooner. Hope that once they are seen, all those tests are scheduled and ordered appropriately and scheduled promptly. They hope that once all these tests are resulted, their doctors are notified so that they can move on to the next step. We represent hope, and Amy takes that very seriously. Amy screens the new pulmonology patients, reviews their records to see if patient needs to be seen sooner, and escalates to the provider. Amy assures testing is scheduled as soon as possible and escalates as needed. She has been instrumental in getting insurance denials overturned. Insurance denials take up so much of our time, but Amy is determined to get the patient the care they need. I would say 95% of the time, she gets the denials overturned. She is a huge part of patients getting the prompt treatment they need, but most of this is behind the scenes.

One of our patients recently passed away. The patient’s husband sent us the obituary, in it, he mentioned Amy. He thanked them for everything they did for the patient. Amy worked very hard go get this patient the care she needed, even the most complicated orders, such as the ventilator. Patient finally got her ventilator. Ordering a ventilator, is not a typical order we work for our patients, but this patient had a special relationship with our team. The pulmonology team went above and beyond for this patient, especially Amy. Amy was always very patient and kind with her and her husband. They felt cared for up until her passing.

My father passed away from cancer. I had him come to Banner and had him admitted to the floor I used to work on, 5E. This was back in 2015. Even then, I handpicked Amy to take care of my dad and my family because I knew her attention to detail, and kindness was what my family needed. I trust Amy with my life and the life of my family.

Amy always goes above and beyond. She is extremely sweet to patients and is a good listener to them. Amy truly cares and I want to make sure that even the behind-the-scenes work does not go unnoticed. I thank you Amy for all you do and the hope you bring to our patients. That’s the very best we can do, is give them hope.
