Upon finding out that my daughter had passed at 18 weeks gestation, I was devastated. When I arrived at labor and delivery I was nervous and depressed. That's when I met Amy. Her gentle compassion immediately soothed me and made me feel supported. I explained to Amy that coming to L&D was precious to me because it allowed me to avoid a horrific D&C procedure. This procedure would have seen my sweet baby dismembered in pieces and discarded as "products of conception". I was so ashamed at the prospect and felt I had lost my dignity as a pro-life mother. Amy restored my dignity as she tenderly treated my baby as a soul worthy of respect. She allowed me to grieve in peace as she patiently cared for my broken heart. She was so involved in me as a person that she even had a bouquet of flowers and a (much desired) chocolate cake brought in just for me. From the pink blanket, she handpicked out for my daughter, to the tiny foot/hand prints she made, she made an awful and dark day bearable for my family and me. Her care and soft countenance, coupled with her inner beauty and genuine concern for me as a patient make her a hero in my book. Thank you form the bottom of my heart for giving me an option for laying my daughter down in peace. I will never be able to repay what you have given me, closure and integrity before the Lord.
