Amy Gideon came in for her shift at 3 pm and was supposed to leave at 7 pm. I had a long and difficult labor/delivery and Amy was phenomenal the entire time. Trying different poses to push, encouraging me, and keeping the situation light and friendly for my overly anxious husband. She was both professional and approachable. Our son was born at 7:04 pm, and due to some complications, I had to be rushed to the OR surgery for repair. I was devastated that I couldn't be there with my son and my (visibly shaken) husband. Amy wheeled me to the OR and upon seeing how upset I was, got down and made eye contact and said to me, "This is a blip on the radar. Go in there and get this done and come out to hold that baby of yours. I'll be here with your son and husband until you get out."

Talk about the pep talk I very much needed at that time! Amy stayed until my surgery concluded at 9:35 pm, and helped my husband with our newborn son. She went above and beyond to demonstrate Every Time Behaviors as outlined by LGH. All healthcare professionals should strive to treat patients like Amy treated my husband, son, and me.
