Amy continued to watch and monitor me throughout the almost 9-hour session, which went smoothly, and my demeanor changed from anxious to one of peace.
I nominate Ms. Amy Peregrin for the DAISY Award. Amy is a highly knowledgeable, extraordinary, and compassionate nurse who always goes above and beyond. She is highly skilled, listens to current and past issues, and provides the most empathy and compassion around. I've been a patient for over 2.5 years and always look forward to seeing Amy, as she helps set my demeanor to be happy rather than anxious and is comforting during the infusion process. She always maintains a professional demeanor but also fosters personal relationships to facilitate effective communication. I want to cite two examples from the past couple of months that demonstrate Amy's compassion and care for me.
In January, when I required additional chemo infusions- talk about anxious- I walked into the third-floor infusion area, and there was Amy, who brightened by the day. She comforted me and reassured me that she would watch over me, which set the stage for what was to come. Amy continued to watch and monitor me throughout the almost 9-hour session, which went smoothly, and my demeanor changed from anxious to one of peace.
In February, Amy led the nursing staff in singing "Happy Birthday" as a surprise when entering the room, which was decorated with streamers and a card. What a way to make a guy feel blessed and loved. There are no words to describe the effect that had on both myself and my wife. Amy is a true professional and reflects great credit upon herself and the City of Hope team!
