Thank you for the opportunity to convey my gratitude for the excellent care I have received this past year. As a lifelong healthy patient in her early 70's, it was incredibly heartening and reassuring to meet the Breast Center's Nurse Navigator, Amy, following a surprise bout with Stage 1 carcinoma. In fact, the shock of it caused a flurry of tests, and one seeming TIA during which time I received calls as to my well-being and one "Wellness Check" by the police.

During the recent government shutdown, I was so fearful of surgery without sufficient insurance that I said, "I may as well throw myself off a bridge rather than undergo this excision without insurance coverage," which caused Amy's call for the police. Two officers arrived to find me serenely painting at the easel, but I do understand and am grateful for everyone's concern.

Nurse Amy gave me her full attention over the past months, was encouraging and kind- even showing up during the pre-op SAVI device placement. I highly recommend Nurse Amy as a candidate for the DAISYAward and thank her for her exceptional bedside manner and professionalism.
