She countered fear with positivity and encouragement, celebrating every effort my mother made.
I am writing to acknowledge the dedication of my nurse. She is the epitome of a seasoned nursing professional and demonstrates what expert care with heart looks like. Through her works and actions, one understands why nursing is a calling: the art of compassion, care, and knowledge. She was the day nurse for my mother. What she was able to do with my mom was nothing short of miraculous in improving my mother’s overall condition.
She paid attention to all my mother’s concerns and issues and overcame them all. She made sure the medication and pain management was delivered on time with no lapses throughout the day. She offered my mother dignity and respect by treating her as more than a person in a bed. She gave her a thorough and proper cleaning of her body and changed the linen. This may be routine, but it refreshed my mother mentally. She managed to make cleaning a fun experience full of laughs and giggles by doing simple things that mean a lot; playing her favorite music and explaining what and why things were being done along the way. This nurse showed compassion and skill, even sharing that she has quadriplegic relatives, creating a relatable experience and the reason for her expertise. Throughout the day she worked with my mother reinforcing therapy moves given by staff, explaining the importance of each movement and why they were necessary steps in her recovery journey. She would have my mother hold positions while having my mother count to five, keeping her cognitive skills sharp. At the end of the day, my mother was able to make improvements that we continue to build on. Her efforts, knowledge she shared, and positivity stay with us and are a bright spot in our journey. She deserves daisies, recognition, and celebration. She gives that to each of her patients I’m confident in that, I am a witness to her skills. This woman is an amazing human that you are fortunate to have on your nursing team. If you have her as a nurse, you are receiving the best care possible. Thank you!
