I would like to recognize Nurse Amy Lee for the extraordinary compassion, patience, and dedication she showed while caring for my grandmother.

Amy helped insert my grandmother’s NG tube—a procedure that turned out to be extremely challenging due to her unique anatomy and medical condition. My grandmother was already weak from recurring aspiration pneumonia and hadn’t eaten for several days, so it was critical to get the tube placed correctly to ensure she could receive nutrition.

What stood out most was Amy’s unwavering kindness and determination. She spent nearly four hours working carefully and patiently to ensure my grandmother was safe and comfortable. Despite the difficulties, she never gave up. She triple-checked everything—with X-rays, ICU doctors, and even the radiologist—to make absolutely sure everything was right.

Amy also showed incredible compassion by allowing my mother and me to stay in the room to assist and comfort my grandmother, who had advanced dementia. Not every nurse allows that, but Amy recognized how important our presence was for my grandmother’s understanding and comfort. That sensitivity and respect meant so much to our family.

When the tube was finally placed successfully, we all felt an overwhelming sense of joy and relief. Amy shared in that moment with us—her genuine care and pride in helping her patients was clear to see.

Thanks to her skill and dedication, my grandmother was able to regain some strength and spend one more precious month with us before peacefully passing away at home, surrounded by family and love.

I will never forget Amy’s compassion, professionalism, and perseverance that night. She gave my best friend—my grandma—more time and gave our family comfort we will never forget.
