A patient in the emergency department with a poor prognosis of 4 months to live by his oncologist was being transferred to an inpatient hospital. Amy was the nurse caring for him and noticed that it was his birthday and wanted to brighten his day. Amy tried to arrange for a flower delivery as the patient could not eat or drink but was unable to get them to the emergency department before his transportation to the inpatient hospital Amy was able to get a flower arrangement and a Happy Birthday balloon delivered to the inpatient hospital and they would be waiting for him when he arrived. Amy wanted to put a smile on his face and her compassion in caring for him was heartwarming.
