During my stay on Unit 45 being treated for conditions resulting from a stroke and my cancer, I was able to form a special bond with Nurse Amy Moore. During a time in my life that was very traumatic for both my family and me, Amy brought peace and kindness to a particularly rough situation. Even though this was probably the hundredth time she had dealt with someone in my situation, she was incredibly sensitive. She understood that nothing like this had ever happened before to ME.
She was professional while being very compassionate and treated me in a way that brought me dignity and humanity. As I try to write it out, I can not find the right words to do justice to how special I was treated and what an amazing job she did. I have always felt that God brings people into our lives when their presence is most needed, and uses them to bring his special love and care to them. This was Amy Moore to my family and me.
