Amy Naugle lives this every day in her career, sharing her experience, encouraging others, reassuring new employees, and going above and beyond what is expected of her as an RN and Team Leader.
I am honored to nominate Amy Naugle RN Emergency Department for this Award. Amy's years of experience in Nursing are evident every day with exceptional clinical skills. In addition to her core responsibilities as an RN, she is often assigned as a team leader for a twenty-bed zone in the Emergency Department. In this role Amy's responsibilities multiply as she is charged with handling patient flow in and out of the zone, making nursing bed assignments and assigning lunches, as well as responding to patient's concerns.
Amy's qualifications and experience are exemplified as a Team Leader. I have experienced Amy often taking bed assignments as a Team Leader in a zone to assist the workload of other RN's in the zone on days of short staffing. Amy is very dynamic in the zone checking on RN's and their workload and assisting them when needed. She has often forgone her own lunch until eight or nine hours into her shift to cover for other nurses' lunches in her zone. Her compassion for patient satisfaction is just another reason for making her deserving of this award. Her calming voice and explanation of the totality of care and necessary steps in a patient's care have often assisted in calming patients that would have left against medical advice otherwise. Amy believes in everyone's abilities on her team in her zone and treats every team member with equal respect and expectations.
The great NFL broadcaster Jimmy Johnson said: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra. Treat a person as he is, and he will remain as he is. Treat him as he could be, and he will become what he should be. Give people enough guidance to make decisions you want them to make. Don't tell them what to do but encourage them to do what is best."
Amy Naugle lives this every day in her career, sharing her experience, encouraging others, reassuring new employees, and going above and beyond what is expected of her as an RN and Team Leader. Amy's commitment to excellence and continued education is deserving of recognition.
