Amy Pellerin, RN at Winchester Hospital is our most recent recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses after a patient’s granddaughter nominated her for being so “concerned, attentive and gentle” to her grandmother.
In the nomination, the woman wrote that she was touched by how much time Amy spent with her family and her grandmother – listening to stories, comforting them, laughing with them – as if her grandmother was the only patient Amy had.
I have found it very difficult to put into words a clear picture of just how amazing Amy is and just how much she affected our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives. In fact, when I’m struggling with the loss even now I think of Amy and remember that she made my grandmother’s last hours as painless and peaceful as she could.
