Amy Powell 2025 TN, RN

Nurse Amy has provided exceptional care to students for years. However, I want to discuss one specific situation where she went above and beyond. My daughter is a freshman and was feeling very anxious and overwhelmed about selecting classes for her sophomore year. She went to Nurse Amy for some ibuprofen and Amy noticed that seemed out of sorts. Nurse Amy gently engaged her in conversation, and when she realized my daughter was feeling stressed about class choices, she took extra time and effort to talk to her. She listened and validated and then offered helpful suggestions. She even offered to have my daughter talk to her own daughter (Nurse Amy’s daughter) about class choices. Nurse Amy could have given her the ibuprofen and made sure she was feeling physically okay and that would already have been her usual high standard of care. She not only realized that one of her students might need some emotional/mental support, but she also took the time to provide it. This is only one of many examples I could provide for Nurse Amy, and her consistent habit of providing safe, effective, and COMPASSIONATE nursing care to everyone she sees.
