Amy Prange exemplifies the DAISY Award criteria of "Exemplary Role Model." She is the Charge Nurse for the UCU. The UCU can be a very demanding and hectic environment for the staff with constant changes caused by last minute patient additions, late arrivals by patients, surgical delays and staff shortages due to vacations or sickness.
As the Charge Nurse, Amy is required to adjust the unit's workflow on the fly. No matter where I am in the UCU, Amy seems to be close by, either caring for a patient or assisting another staff member with their duties. Amy amazes me with her ability to manage the fast-paced environment with her quick decision-making skills and good humor. The phrase, "grace under pressure" describes her perfectly.
Amy's skills and professional demeanor consistently demonstrate the DAISY Award criteria and she is extremely deserving to be recognized with this honor.
