My 19-year-old was diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) over 3 years ago. This inflammatory condition can be very debilitating and cause a lot of emotional distress. Amy has been T’s nurse for the past 3 years and biggest cheerleader. He takes an infusion treatment at the surgical unit once a month and also has to have some spots drained on occasion. When he was at his worst, he lost over 50 pounds before we found the right treatment for him. He was not only going through a lot of pain but was an emotional mess. We've dealt with a lot of different specialists and nurses, but Amy shows so much love and compassion for our son. She's been a difference maker for him with her care but also with a lot of emotional support, which you don't see much anymore. She's encouraged him to continue to persevere and not let this disease define who T is and wants to become. He's in college now on an academic scholarship and a part of the SOSU collegiate powerlifting team. She's encouraged him to help others with this condition, and he just recently spoke in front of 100 college regents about his story and how he's overcome and continues to fight!!! This wouldn't be possible without CNHSA and especially Amy Price!!
