Amy has taken care of a patient for many days. This patient has a hospital stay of 111 days and can be very challenging to care for. He has been through a lot of pain and suffering and is incredibly anxious after many complications from surgery. He needs a lot of encouragement and is Spanish speaking only.
Amy took it upon herself to continue to care for him every time she comes to work, despite the challenges. She has offered excellent nursing care and her Spanish speaking skills have offered the patient and family comfort and eased their anxiety. Amy has developed a rapport with this patient and is helping him extensively with his recovery.
Amy's dedication and second language skills have helped this patient's recovery but have also helped our unit, nursing staff, and doctors provide a better experience for this patient.
