This nurse is a colleague of mine. We had an extremely anxious patient come into triage for a panic attack. He was pacing and holding his head, not aggressive but very clearly agitated and in distress. Even EMS, myself and the other staff were getting frustrated with this patient when he wouldn't even sit still for vitals. Amy sent him down, turned off the lights, and told him what a great job he was doing. She somehow managed to get all the vitals and all of the information we needed to triage him by being calm and soothing and reassuring. I've never seen anyone so impressively patient, unstartled, and compassionate in the true meaning of the term. I was so impressed by the way this nurse handled this patient that it stayed with me all day and inspires me to try to be more like her with my patience. This woman has a true skill and I believe she needs to be recognized for the difference I know she made and that patient's most scary time. Thank you to her.
