I am 21 years old. I arrived at the Physicians Regional Emergency Room with a complication from kidney disease. I am fairly young and a very nervous person....hearing this diagnosis was extremely scary and I was automatically transferred to the ICU. I received great nursing care the moment I arrived. Amy was my day time nurse for two days.
Amy has a very gentle persona and is more than willing to listen and to talk with you about any concerns or discomfort you are having. She was extremely personable and was never in a rush to get out of my room. She genuinely took her time explaining things and even just talking about life in general with my parents and me. The first day Amy was taking care of me she spent time doing some in-depth research regarding nephrotic syndrome. She acknowledged that kidney disease was not necessarily her expertise but went out of her way to gain new information and understanding regarding the disease process. It is so important for providers to know exactly what type of illness they are dealing with and Amy definitely went out of her way to make sure she knew all information necessary to be a successful nurse with my case.
I will never forget the nursing care I received from Amy. She did everything that she possibly could to address my needs and be a beacon of comfort in a very stressful situation.
