Amy Shuman, RN, was named the 2026 DAISY Nurse Leader recipient during the East Georgia Regional annual DAISY Luncheon honoring DAISY Honorees held during Nurses Week. Amy, a long-time leader in the emergency department, was selected from a large group of nominations. Multiple submissions highlighted her accessibility, consistency, and commitment to both staff and patients. "Her knowledge base is very vast, but she's not afraid to ask, learn, and grow if she's not sure. And she's always open to sharing that knowledge, which is critical for quality and safety. She just celebrated 30 years here, so the commitment is there. Amy adds so much value, experience, and wisdom to the department and to each team member."

Amy accepted her award with the response, "I think we have a very important job. I want people to know what they're doing and why they're doing it. I try to be a resource for that. "
