Amy held my hand through the pain, she laughed with me, she let me cry and she championed me through my entire time in the ER.
I was brought to the ER with a severely broken leg. Amy was at my bedside from the beginning of my stay at Spectrum. The first thing she did was assure me she was going to stay with me through my whole time in the ER. Next, she went out of her way to find me a stress ball shaped like a heart, which might seem like a small gesture, but with how much pain I was in and how much manipulation of my leg was required at the beginning, this small gift made a huge difference for me. Amy explained every process to me in as much detail as I asked with incredible patience. She made certain I understood everything that was being done, but as importantly, she made sure I understood why. She answered every single one of my questions graciously and with honesty. She held my hand through the pain, she laughed with me, she let me cry and she championed me through my entire time in the ER. She was at my bedside quickly every time I called, she checked in on me frequently, she was incredibly prompt in the management of my pain, and she was diligent about keeping me as comfortable as she possibly could. She was subtle about it in my presence, but I know there were at least two instances where she advocated for me in discussions with other members of my healthcare team to ensure I received the highest standard of pain management and overall care possible. Amy also went out of her way to find the necessary equipment and rigged up a sling we had used in the ER, introduced me to the nurse who would be taking over my care, and made sure I was as comfortable as possible before leaving my room. Amy is a rockstar. Breaking my leg was a horrible experience, but my time in the ER was top-notch thanks to Amy.
