Amy believes in the profession of nursing and nourishes our soul with her love and appreciation of the work she does. She dedicates her career to enhancing the professional development of others. Families often request her as she takes care of the whole person, not only meeting their physical needs, but ensuring the emotional and spiritual needs of the patient and the family. Below is a portion of a letter sent by the daughter of a patient:

I feel compelled to write this letter in support of neurosurgical ICU nurse Amy Zimei because of the outstanding service and care she provided to me and my sister as we tended to our mother in her last days in the hospital. The care she provided to our mother was excellent, but what she provided to us as the family was unmatched by anyone else on the extensive medical team involved in our mother's care. Ms.Zimei was never intrusive, yet always available. She was extraordinarily sensitive to our concerns and wishes concerning our mother's expressed end of life wishes, gave clear and thoughtful information in a timely manner as we were able to process it, was sensitive to our family dynamics and respectful of my standing as Health Care Proxy.

She is a most gifted nurse and compassionate human being and we believe that this should be recognized by those she works with and by her superiors.
