Ana models and demonstrates a caring attitude to patients and co-workers. Ana takes time to explain her plan of care to patients and families. She consistently utilizes the language line for proper medical explanations to her patients/families and uses her bilingual skills to support everyone for non-medical interpretation. Ana has very good assessment skills, and her critical thinking skills continue to develop. Her integrity shows in her documentation. A patient and family were having a difficult time handling a new diagnosis of cancer along with the multiple tests recommended. Ana came on her shift, explained every care plan in detail, and then called radiology to expedite the CT scan ordered. This reduced their anxiety. She even had jello ready for the patient upon return since liquids were all the patient could have. Ana works well with everyone. She assists the charge nurse in updating the board daily. She is not afraid to escalate concerns.
